Imagine what Anchorage could be like by 2030. Here’s what we see happening:

• More equitable median household incomes
• Fewer community members experiencing poverty
• More people with full-time employment that covers their needs
• Less unmet medical needs due to cost
• Fewer people experiencing physical or behavioral health concerns
• Better access to quality, affordable childcare
• More students engaging in learning and graduating with life and career skills

The future we’re envisioning can happen when a truth is realized: Anchorage thrives when we have strong, financially secure families. That truth motivates our work and stems from our focus areas, which include education, financial stability and health. It also points to how we can work with Alaskans to create brighter futures for everyone. Learn more about our work.

Our new Community Impact Agenda lays out how to create this brighter future. It was crafted with an engaging, deliberate process. We started by collecting data. An impact advisory team reviewed it to suggest ideas about where we could concentrate efforts. Then, community members shared their experiences and perspectives. Some statements they made include:

“It takes a village. What happened to the village?”

“I am literally just working to afford childcare.”

“One misstep and I could lose everything.”

After we incorporated everyone’s insights and recommendations into our draft, we presented it to our Board of Directors. They approved our Agenda unanimously.

Now, we’re excited to roll out our Agenda. It moves us closer to our vision for Anchorage. We can be a healthy community where youth and adults have opportunities. We can be a place where financial security is not a desperate hope for families, but a feasible reality.

• Alaskans experiencing hardships stabilize with health, housing and income supports.
• Youth and adults who want to learn and grow succeed if given opportunities.
• Parents with reliable, nurturing childcare pursue careers while their children play.

Our Agenda focuses on efforts, initiatives and investments that advance those areas.
