Gathered in our boardroom over lunch, 23 employee campaign coordinators (ECCs) listened to Greg Gallagher, our Vice President of Philanthropy. He noted how they’re often asked, “So why do you run a workplace campaign for United Way?”
He started this short video to answer the question. Will you watch it now?
As it played, ECCs nodded along. When it ended, everyone applauded. They’d asked for footage to show their colleagues about the work United Way undertakes. This video fulfilled their request—and excited them.
Its message is plain, simple and motivating. People support our Community Campaign because they want to build lasting change and trust us to create and fund solutions around a common vision. Find out how to run a workplace campaign.
When ECCs feel supported and empowered, they pass their energy to their workplace campaigns. ECCs’ enthusiasm encourages others to get involved in our community and pledge gifts. Their energy combined with their workplaces’ donations can help us reach our Community Campaign fundraising goal: $3.95M.
We hosted this training so that they’re equipped to run successful campaigns. We gave them:
- Connections to other ECCs and us.
- Ideas, tips and best practices.
- Workplace campaign resources.
- Answers to their questions.
- Excitement!
Several representatives from our funded partners attended too, serving as their ECCs. One person was new to their nonprofit and said that they came in with no idea what to expect from our training. When asked to share their thoughts, “I was impressed!” they exclaimed. “I’m trying to soak it all in.”
Many people begin their giving journey during a workplace campaign. We do all we can to help ECCs make the experience as positive, enjoyable and informative as possible.
Our Community Campaign is the main way we Unite people to give, volunteer and take action. We have events coming up that support it, and we’d love for you to join them. You can volunteer for Day of Caring, which is Tues., Sept. 10. If you’re running a workplace campaign, you can attend an ECC training on Thurs., Sept. 19. You can attend our Community Campaign Kickoff on Thurs., Sept. 12. Thank you for helping to improve our community!
