United Way of Anchorage strives to improve lives in our community. To achieve these improvements, we collaborate and partner.
Results-focused collaboration
United Way cares about each person and envisions a place where we all can thrive. We achieve that potential when everyone has enough income to cover their basic needs. We provide resources and services that help people stabilize. We empower our community to go further.
Vibrant, diverse partnerships
United Way convenes organizations to address common goals. When we combine efforts, we amplify our impact and create conditions for everyone to thrive. Our local leaders and inspired neighbors’ commitment, engagement and coordination strengthen our community.
Engaged community
Our mission directs our actions: “Unite caring people to give, volunteer, remove barriers to opportunities and solve our community’s toughest challenges.” The verb UNITE urges us to work together. United Way is engaging our community and bringing people together.
Successful kids
Our vision anticipates a future where every person can achieve their potential. Tomorrow starts with our children today. To realize our vision, United Way is seeking to end disparate outcomes for our community’s families.
Financially stable households
Households can succeed when they have income that covers their basic needs. To ensure their success, United Way is providing resources that help people in our community build and maintain their financial stability.
Healthy people
A healthy person is better positioned to contribute to our community. Being unable to receive healthcare makes people feel desperate. To improve access, United Way is connecting Alaskans to free, confidential help to find their available options.
Homelessness Assistance & prevention
A meaningful life begins, continues and ends in a home. Some neighbors need support to secure and keep permanent housing. To ensure instances of homelessness rare and brief, United Way is getting people into stable homes and empowering them to become self-sufficient.
Available resources
Alaskans everywhere need help from time to time. To connect them with food, shelter, services, programs, assistance, healthcare, childcare, transportation and much more, United Way is continuing to administer Alaska 211—our one-stop helpline.
