About Walk for Warmth
Families with cold homes suffer from health problems and have a higher likelihood of becoming homeless. United Way and its partners are uniting the community to bring attention to those living on the edge–some of whom may have to make the decision between heating their home and buying groceries. This event aims to raise awareness of and funds for families and individuals who are struggling to meet expenses such as utility bills. For some in Anchorage, it only takes a single upset, a temporary job loss or an unexpected medical bill to put the security of having a warm home in jeopardy. You can help your neighbors by participating in this event. Funds raised through this event are provided to local nonprofit service organizations that provide utility assistance programs.
