ANCHORAGE, Alaska – United Way of Anchorage’s annual Day of Caring events will bring volunteers from leading businesses to work on projects to help children, young Alaskans and refugees. Events will take place on Oct. 4 at several nonprofits around the city. In conjunction with United Way Day of Caring activities, the UAA Student Food Pantry is collecting food donations all week.
Day of Caring is an event organized by United Way of Anchorage that encourages people to volunteer with local nonprofits as a way to expand capacity that might not otherwise be possible. United Way coordinates with partner organizations and the business community to enhance the important work of the nonprofit sector.
“Day of Caring is a chance for residents to roll up their sleeves and make a difference in their community,” said Clark Halvorson, President and CEO of United Way of Anchorage. “United Way is excited to bring together these businesses, volunteers and nonprofits to make Anchorage a better place for everyone.”
