ANCHORAGE, Alaska – 113 people showed up to walk in support of Alaskans struggling to pay their heating bills at United Way of Anchorage’s annual Walk for Warmth. The event raised $27,660 to help people in Anchorage pay their heating bills.
ENSTAR Natural Gas Company was the principal sponsor of the event. They donated $10,000 and partnered with United Way to promote Walk for Warmth. First National Bank Alaska and Global Credit Union donated $5,000 each. With this generous corporate support and support from individual donors, United Way raised a total of $27,660 to help families in Anchorage pay their heating bills. United Way will distribute funds to its partner organizations. They will ensure the funds go to Anchorage residents to pay their heating bills.
“Walk for Warmth is all about sparking hope in our community,” said Eric Billingsley, President and CEO of United Way of Anchorage. “Every person here today is showing their neighbors that they care. Every dollar raised today will help someone heat their home. This event shows the power we have when we unite local companies, donors and nonprofits to help local families.”
“For over a decade, ENSTAR has proudly partnered with United Way of Anchorage to sponsor Walk for Warmth,” said Lindsay Hobson. She’s the Director of Legal and administration for ENSTAR Natural Gas Company. “Funds raised from this event support people in our communities who need support to keep their homes warm this time of year. Keeping Alaskans warm is core to our mission, and we welcome this opportunity to support our neighbors in times of need.”
